Handmaidens frequently wore hoods to hide their identities, and amke them less distinguishable from one another.

Handmadiens sometimes wore bright colors to distract snipers.

Handmaidens were very common on Naboo. Their primary duties were to manage the queen's frequent costume changes, and handle her hair and make-up. Occasionally, they were asked to act as decoys so that assassins would kill them instead of someone important, like the queen. In many cases, queens retained a troupe of handmaidens after their terms had ended. Most handmaidens were female, but exceptions were made. Handmaidens were also expected to have their names accented in a particualr way, in accordance with ancient Naboo customs.
